Match Date: 05 March 2017
Bearsted welcomed Holland & Blair to Honey Lane on a day with Sunshine, rain, Wind and hale stones.
The game kicked off and the bears had already shown a different spirit in the warm up and changing room, which indicated they were up for a game today.
Bearsted dominated the game for long periods with two or three good chances going a miss but kept pressing, eventually after a quality shot from Charlie Roberts the ball bounced back for James Hursey to smash the ball in the back of the net 1-0 Bears.
This now had them believing and they kept pressing with the fire in their bellies and after hitting the post twice and the crossbar twice eventually their hard work paid off as a corner came floating in Billy Easby rose like a salmon and headed the ball home to make it 2-0 Bears….
Half time came along with the Hale stones but the spirit couldn’t be dampened by the weather.
The second half kicked off and the boys now needed to focus and start off where they left off in the first half, H&B came alive more in the second half but Bearsted never sat deep and kept pressing creating goal line clearances and hitting the cross bar again. H&B also hit the post and crossbar the other end and eventually after 25 mins scored a goal to make it 1-2 H&B. The bears never phased and straight away took the game up another gear showing grit and determination in order to keep control of the game.
The final whistle came at 2-1 and the Bears had three well-deserved points coming from sheer passion and good spirit.
Man of the match: Billy Easby.
So pleased to see the boys with a smile on their faces.
