Match Date: 13 November 2016
Bearsted were at home to face Aylesford in the first round of the Challenge Cup.
The game kicked off and Bearsted played some great football and looked sharp, then only after 10 minutes the referee changed the game when an AFC shot was blasted at a Bearsted player and so he jumped raised his leg and it hit him in the top of his arm and chest and a penalty was awarded even though he never raised his arms, both management and parents were in disbelief but AFC stepped up and took the lead 0-1.
This was to change the game and now the boys looked so disheartened and more disappointing because of such a poor decision and injustice.
Half time came and the boys were 0-3 down which was no reflection on the way they were playing as they started to get back into the game and looked the better side at times.
The second half kicked off and Bearsted got the fire back in their belly and were playing some great football, AFC kept pressing but Bearsted seem to step up a gear and pressed AFC creating several chances, however after some confusion at the back AFC managed to slot home another goal to make it 0-4. Bearsted never gave up and after some great link up play Matt Morse smashed a consolation goal in to make it 1-4. The game ended at 1-4 Aylesford however the score line doesn’t warrant to hard work and passion that Bearsted showed especially after a game changing decision that ruined what was to be a good game.
Man of the Match: Sonny Cook
