Match Date: 25 September 2016
Bearsted arrived in Kings Hill in good form, having narrowly lost our previous match despite controlling most of the game.
Training has been centred around our ability to keep possession and move the ball well; this was reflected in our commanding performance today.
Defenders were playing out from the back with composure, midfielders were comfortable and strikers protected the ball well. The Bears attacked regularly and effectively, creating several chances on the home team's goal in a period of sustained pressure.
Deservedly, we went ahead when a corner wasn't cleared properly which allowed Dom Hatley to volley the ball past the despairing keeper into the top right corner.
The pattern of the game was only broken briefly when a Kings Hill midfielder launched the ball forward from the half-way line. It took a ludicrous bounce off of the dry surface and went in.
Even the Kings Hill players were surprised, breathing a sigh of relief too.
Half-time: Kings Hill 1 - 1 Bearsted
The team-talk was simple; we're on top, so keep the pressure on them and the goals will definitely come.
As it turned out, it was a close range finish by Nick Dann which restored our lead, who finished bravely despite a mass of players around him.
Kings Hill were hanging on by a thread as Bearsted mounted repeated attacks from all over the pitch and their keeper played well. Unfortunately, we weren't able to convert any of the multiple chances we forged but on the plus side, Kings Hill had absolutely no clean-cut chances in the entire game.
Full-time: Kings Hill 1 - 2 Bearsted
