Match Date: 30 October 2016
Due to a last minute mix up, Bearsted played this game with only 10 players.
Our players were tired and couldn't keep up the tempo all the way through the match.....however, it is fair to say that we were on top for the majority the fixture!
We had the better chances, including one-on-ones and dangerous crosses into their goal area. Leybourne were restricted to long, high shots.
Although a point with 10 men is a great result, the fact that we came away feeling like we'd missed out on all 3 points tells the story of the game.
Well-deserved individual reports:
Toby Howells (GK): Solid throughout the match, great handling and aerial ability.
Andrew O'Neil (RB): Started the game at left wing. Played superbly well after the tactical switch, stopping crosses and winning battles.
Elijah Dutson (CB): Strongest player on the pitch as usual, read the game very well - made crucial interceptions and key headers.
James Moore (CB): Excellent distribution of the ball once he'd won it back, controlled the defensive line well.
Nick Dann (LB): Involved in several 50-50 challenges and won them all. Started counter-attacks regularly and gave their winger a hard time.
Daniel Lawrence (CM): Displayed quick feet, nipping between players and turning away from trouble often. Great vision for through balls.
Sam Hill (CM): Ran the game, from last-ditch tackles to weaving dribbles. A constrant threat which Leybourne couldn't deal with.
Alfie Caesar (RM): Held his width well which stretched their backline, delivered tempting crosses from the first minute to the last.
Leo Dunk (LM): Silky skills, cutting inside from the left flank regularly. Danced between 3 or 4 players per time, deserved a goal.
Oscar Mulligan (ST): Tireless running for our team, closing down defenders. Displayed an exquisite first touch and brought others into play regularly.
