Match Date: 18 September 2016
Bearsted U18 KYL maintained their 100% start to the season with a roller coaster match at home to Faversham Town, eventually running out 7-6 winners.
Within five minutes of the start Luke Snazel fired an unstoppable shot into the top left corner of the Town goal. The ever alert Tom Lindsey doubled the lead when the Faversham keeper failed to hold a shot. Debutant Will Richards held his nerve when Snazel's deft flick put him through one on one, Richards calmly slotting home under the advancing Town keeper. With a 3 goal lead after 13 minutes you would have thought the game was over. By half time Faversham had levelled the score. Callum Macgregor slicing a clearance into his own goal and two more goals for Town meant that they finished the first half as the dominant team. It was vital Bearsted started the second half well, and this they did when Ryan Golding beat the offside trap and skilfully volleyed home, Town hit back straight away and again levelled the score at 4-4. Another goal each for Golding and Snazel and an absolute rocket unleashed into the roof of the Town goal from Kieron Patel meant that at 7-4 Bearsted once again had the game won. Faversham must have thought it was Christmas Day with Bears gifting two goals back, and with three minutes left the game was anybody's. Finally the final whistle came and Bearsted kept their winning run.
An absolute roller coaster of a game, Bearsted played some great football in places and to score seven goals against a strong Faversham Town side was very pleasing, conceding six certainly was disappointing but this was one of those freak games that fortunately only occur very rarely.
