The final scoreline does not is not really a true reflection this game and was only settled by two late goals in the second half. From the start it was apparent that Crowborough would have a fight on their hands. Certainly during the opening period it was the visitors who were the team playing comfortably with some neat build up play and looking confident at the back. However they were to be rocked after 7 minutes when a fiercely struck right wing corner by Ross Treleaven found an unmarked Jason Barton to bullet a header high into the net. As a result of this goal so the home side found themselves coming more into the game while at the same time the visitors remained very much in the game and able to produce several opportunities of their own, notably when Reece Collins header passed narrowly wide of the bar and then when an effort from the edge of the area by Billy Jones forced a smart save by home goalkeeper diving low to his right and preventing the ball from going into the net. Unfortunately for them though Bearsted at times, were susceptible to counter attacks as a result of misplaced passes, which was highlighted by runs on goal by Zac Attwood and Henry Muggeridge and on several occasions it was only a series of great saves by Scott Andrews that maintained the score at half time.
Following the half time break supporters saw much of the same with the momentum of the game flowing from end to end. However as play went on so it was the visitors who were to enjoy their best spell of the game and with the prospect of an equaliser seeming a real prospect as the home defence were forced onto the back foot, during which time seeing Graeme Andrews heading over a Jones corner and then when Collins saw his goal bound shot being deflected narrowly wide of the post. As the clock ran down though and following another frustrating official interjection, the ball found Treleaven who was able to run on goal and fire the ball in from 20 yards after 80 minutes. Two minutes later though the game was truly sealed, when Muggeridge seized upon a poor defensive clearance to run on and force a double save by Andrews only for the ball to fall into the path of Sam Crabb to send the ball in from 5 yards.
