Bearsted were the team that started the brighter and for most of the first half were to create more of the chances and really should have achieved a decent lead that would ultimately might have won the game. During this time the visitors certainly had to thank their goalkeeper Ben Nourse for this, firstly when making a double save from Peter Williams and then in denying Reece Collins from point blank range, in addition to this seeing a curling free kick onto the crossbar by Lucian Scarlat. As for Chatham their opportunities were limited although the main threat of the combination of Danny Smith and Stuart Zanone always had its potential and on one particular occasion Zanone did not make the most of a close range opportunity after being set up by Ben Davisson. The game momentum did change however not long before half time, when the hosts were reduced to ten men and having to face the prospect that they now had. However their hopes were boosted on the stroke of half time when a Collins through ball was latched onto by Williams to run on
to slot the ball past the advancing Nourse.
Following the restart the visitors did return showing more purpose and after 53 minutes, Davisson levelled after picking up a loose ball out to send in a low shot from distance past an unsighted Scott Andrews. With the game now in the balance so Bearsted were to once more go into the lead when a Ryan Croucher left wing corner caused certain chaos the result of which allowed Constantine Scarlat to turn the ball in from 6 yards. Soon after the team numbers were levelled following another questionable dismissal, after which Scarlat sent in a low, goalbound deflected shot which was turned around by another fine save by Nourse to keep the scoreline alive. As time wore on so the game flowed end to end but after 79 minutes so came another equaliser when a slack pass was intercepted for Zanone for him to run clear down the right to cross the ball into the path of Billy Brown to send the ball past Andrews leaving both sides maybe happy to enjoy the spoils.
