First Team vs Chatham Town

Match Date: 28 April 2018
Score: 0-1

This encounter proved to be a totally uninspiring final game of the season. Although Bearsted had no real problems preventing threats on their goal and generally maintained control, by the same token they found it very difficult to produce real goal scoring chances, with the exception of a snapshot from Sam Flisher clipping the bar and going to safety. As for their opponents, in similar fashion, had a very similar problem, but for them they had the best chance a minute before half time of taking the lead when Jo Matthews got onto the end of a deep cross to send the ball over the bar from close range.

After the resumption so the visitors came out in bright fashion, during which time seeing a goal bound Matt Garner drive being turned over by a wonder save by home goalkeeper Ben Nourse. As time wore on so things settled back into a similar pattern, but with the momentum moving in favour of Chatham who were showing more purpose in their attempts to win the game, notably with the efforts of Billy Brown’s runs on goal and they were rewarded after 65 minutes when a deep cross from the right found Jo Nwoko lurking at the far post to tuck the ball in from close range to ultimately win the game.
