Early signs of this game were that this would be a close affair, which was exactly how it ultimately turned out with maybe this Bearsted side creating more meaningful chances. For the visitors the runs of front men Joe Nwoko and Jack Harris did show a potential threat and for home side its’ neat interplay and wing thrusts gradually were taking affect. So much so that after 18 minutes came the opening goal when Reece Collins and Lucian scarlet combined well before the ball was swept to Ehis Isokun wide on the right to send in a wicked cross, finding the head of Tom Lawrence to bullet the ball into his own goal in his attempts to deal with the danger. This goal then did signal a spell of play during which time saw the score likely of being further increased, firstly when a Ron Lyall header was parried onto the bar by goalkeeper Jack Bradshaw and then when saving once more from a run on goal by Cameron Croucher. However, in all fairness an equaliser always remained a possibility, notably when a free kick from the right into the box was partially cleared, finding Jerrard Trespadern lurking at the far post for him to see his shot scrambled off of the line before the ball was cleared to safety.
The resumption after half time threw up much of the same with the play of the hosts’ attacks and movement looking more likely of increasing the score? Particularly when triggered by the trickery of Scarlat which at times was creating real concern for his opponents. Importantly for Tunbridge though the score remained the same and as the clock ran down the game was still in the balance, but although they had to push forward in search parity, their efforts on goal more often lacked the real potential of achieving this. In conclusion then it might be fair to say that this result was the correct one?
