Under 18's KYL vs Chatham Town

Match Date: 17 September 2017
Score: 1-2

Todays team lineup was put together with NO recognised centre back and players playing mainly out of position , due to 6 players out with injuries or sickness. We started well and Ethan Gawley , who worked tirelessly throughout the game, closed down their keeper and blocked the ball and went through to put the Bears 1-0 up .
After halftime we were happy coming out for the second half with a lead , only to throw it away seconds into the second half . Our keeper Ben Cornelius made a string of fine saves , one an absolute worldy, to deny Chatham . Harry Tritton went one on one with the keeper twice, but he made  fine saves . Chatham then lofted a long ball and Ben our keeper couldn't quite get to it and the goal resulted in us going 2-1 down. We played some good football at times, but against a team full of second year boys, one 6'5 in height ,  we just ran out of steam and effort near the end and a draw probably would have been at least the result our football deserved. A special mention to Tommy Ines who for a right footed midfielder , played a blinder at left back . And George Mottram , who filled in at centre back and was outstanding. Lewis Newman worked the right hand side of the front three very well and Connor Heasman, who was back from an injury that has kept him out so far this season, made his comeback and we hope he will soon be back to his very best for us . Once we have a full squad to pick from I feel our results will almost certainly improve. Gutted with the result but not the performance, effort , and commitment of the team. Well done lads !
