Under 14's KYL vs Kings Hill

Match Date: 03 September 2017
Score: 1-0

Bearsted’s newly formed U14’s Kent Youth side kicked off the season with an impressive start winning their first match of the 17/18 season 1-0 away to Kings hill. Before the match the mood in the camp was positive and very upbeat though a hint of nervousness was in the air.

Playing an established, experienced team like Kings hill who finished in the top 3 of the central division (probably considered the most competitive league at this age group), was not the ideal first opponents and the Bearsted boys.  The boy took the challenge well and showed from the off they were not going to be a pushover this season.

Bearsted made a strong start, winning 90% of the loose balls and making tackle after tackle which frustrated the home side as they could not break through the solid Bearsted defence. Most of the pressure in the first 10 minutes came from Bearsted with some cracking link up play between the defence, midfielders and forwards. The boys were getting results down both wings and keeping the Kings hill keeper very busy. Both Toms in the centre of midfield began to controlling the play, winning important tackles and making use of their fortunes by playing in Jack H and Jack M on the left and right wings. Having Zack with his height upfront the Jacks had an easy target man and with the Toms supporting there were plenty of shots on target at the home team goal. It wasn’t long after the 10 minute mark that the breakthrough came with a sweet mid range shot from Zack, which was too accurate for the Kingshill goalie, and gave Bearsted a well-deserved one nil lead.

A solid defensive line from Josh C, Ben, Charlie and Morgan making Harry’s job in goal easy only touching the ball a handful of times. Kings Hill had a surge of late corners and counter attacks but they couldn’t break down the solid Bearsted lines, finishing with a well deserved victory for the Bears!
