Under 16's KYL vs Kennington

Match Date: 22 October 2017
Score: 0-1

Bearsted welcomed Kennington to Honey lane today in their third league game of the season.

Bearsted started the game very well and controlled and dominated the play, linking up well between each other and showing some great signs of football and strength. Chance after chance was going a stray and BFC eventually broke through with Jacob Gilbert who was bought down in their box and BFC were awarded a penalty, George Hall stepped up and hit it to the right of the keeper who managed to get across his goal and carry out a great save denying BFC the lead they deserved. The boys carried on with a good attitude and never let the penalty affect their game. Half time finished and BFC had wasted good chances to talk the lead but still the game was at 0-0.

The second half kicked off and BFC continued to control the game and dominate throughout the pitch, the kennington keeper stopped several shots and cleared a header off his line from a BFC corner once again denying a goal. BFC had done everything but score so far but was showing signs of a great squad. Then 3 minutes before full time a moment that changed the game, following on from a free kick to everyone’s dismay the Refferee blew his whistle but some how waved play on at the same time and Kennington broke through stepped around the keeper and slotted it home to take the lead 0-1. The BFC boys were gutted and couldn’t believe the goal had been awarded but still continued to pepper the Kennington goal but with no avail. The game ended a thoroughly undeserved victory for the visitors 0-1.

Man of the Match: Jacob Gilbert.

Today’s performance was outstanding from Bearsted who totally deserved far more from the game but sometimes that is football.

Very well done lads!!!!
