First Team vs S C Thamesmead

Match Date: 27 November 2017
Score: 2-3

For much of the first half it was Bearsted who looked the far the better side and at one time they looked as though they were going to run away with the game. During the opening spells the home side were finding it difficult to deal with the slick passing and movement being thrown at them. No surprise then that after 16 minutes the visitors were to take the lead when Lucian Scarlat received the ball out on the left before running into the box to thrash the ball past goalkeeper Charlie Martin. Soon after came the second goal, when this time it was Ehis Izokun wide out on the right to send in a shot that with the aid of a deflection, found its’ way into the corner of the net. However Bearsted’s momentum was severely affected, when a deep free kick by Anthony Fenwich somehow deceived the host’s defence for Mudiaga Wanogho to head home at the far post. Although the visitor’s continued to look to extend the lead they were never really able to maintain their dominance and at the half time break the game was still very much in the balance.
Early exchanges after the restart saw Thamesmead’s Fenwich heading over and for the Bear’s Reece Collins finding himself in on goal only for him to be denied by goalkeeper Martin turning the ball around the post. So as is often the case an equaliser came along, when a long ball was sent from deep to find Ismail Ismain for him to run on and hook the ball over and into the net. Following this strike, so the quality of game deteriorated with some unsavoury antics, with the hosts now finding themselves more likely to find a winner. So much so that after 78 minutes this came, when a deep free kick from the left was not successfully defended, allowed Josh Patrick to hook the ball high into the net to ultimately win the game.
