First Team vs Glebe

Match Date: 11 November 2017
Score: 1-3

This scoreline was a reversal of the earlier fixture this season when Bearsted were to be the victors that day. From the start though, it was to be Glebe who were the side more likely to opening the scoring and it was indeed only a series of great saves by Scott Andrews, notably from efforts from both Laurent Hamuci and Brian Zepo that prevented that. However by the same token his defence was also able to stand firm in dealing with the threat in front of them. As for them being on the offensive, the visitors were able to mount various attacks of their own but were rarely able to capitalise upon any potential chances that were to come their way, whereby in contrast the hosts looked the side generally more in control. However throughout the first half the game remained very much in the balance, but at the most critical stage, immediately prior to half time, following a misplaced pass on the edge of the area Peter Sweeney was able to send the ball over Andrews into the top corner into the net.
Following the break the game commenced in similar fashion with the away keeper still producing heroics and seeing their defence although able to cope, but at the same time not really being able to produce the same sort of threat as their opponents were. Unfortunately for them though they finally went further behind on the hour, when a cross ball from right found Hamuci in space for him to run on and send the ball low into the net. However now with the game seemingly to be slipping away from Breasted, the introduction of Jack Sellins who soon after, was able to pick the ball up on the edge of the area to send the ball across the sprawling Dean Nash and into the far corner of the net and keeping the game alive. This situation was, to last just 6 minutes, when following an enforced error at the back, the ball was to find Hamuci to score from close distance to add his second of the afternoon. Although even after this set back, Bearsted did mount a creditable positive response, during which time saw Lucian Scarlat latch onto the ball and send in a fierce shot onto the bar and in addition to this seeing a Ryan Croucher effort passing narrowly wide, but in truth this turned out to be too little too late.
