First Team vs Fisher FC

Match Date: 16 March 2019
Score: 2-4

Credit must be given to both teams for doing their best to put on a decent game today, competing against strong winds blowing the length of the pitch for the whole game
Bearsted defended against it for the first half, and managed after withstanding a couple of attacks from Fisher, to get the ball down and a fine pass from Reece Collins found David Baranowski whose 6th min cross found the reliable head of Peter Williams who nodded the Bears into the lead.
Fisher were taking advantage of the conditions and won a succession of corners, which were well defended by the home side. Fisher though on 16 mins, after some good approach play worked the ball to Rob Brown who from just inside the box rifled in a scorcher in off the right hand post 1 - 1.
The Bears though continued to cope well with the conditions, until Fisher won another corner on 28 mins Trey Small sent in the wind assisted kick which fortunately for the Fish ended up directly in the back of the net. 1 - 2. The Bears response was positive, they kept trying to play their usual creative passing game, and this eventually paid off and after 40 mins youngster Charles Noyelle found room just inside Fishers box to crack home a great low drive 2 - 2.
I think the general opinion around the ground at half time, was that The Bears had done well to weather the storm and would hopefully (wind assisted) go on to take advantage. Sadly this was not to be and both sides started slowly with no chances being created.
Fisher though after 52 mins did find some rather generous space in the Bears penalty area and the ball found itself on the 18 yd. line where Rob Brown, under no pressure, smashed home a great volley in to the top right hand corner 2 - 3.
This seemed to knock the stuffing out of the home side, thus enabling the visitors a relatively comfortable second half with chances hard to come by particularly for the home side.
The last of the action was when Fishers, Ritchie Hamill drilled home an 89th min penalty 2 - 4.
Fair result on the day, good first half for the Bears, but never got going after the break.
