Second X1 vs Faversham Town Res

Match Date: 08 September 2018
Score: 4-2

Today we were away to Faversham Town Reserves. We expected a tough game, as their first team are in the Bostick league, and it was exactly that. The first half we was simply not up for it and although going a goal down we managed to get one back shortly after from a pinpoint Mike Holiday free kick , and our Captain Ben Reader , was bigger and stronger than the Faversham defence , to head in a superb goal. We then conceded a second after a mix up at the back , and once again we were left scratching our heads as to where we were going wrong. Our equaliser came from the superb Mike Holiday, who danced through the midfield and unleashed a fantastic strike from 30 yards , which didn’t have so much venom as it did accuracy, and it came off the inside of the post to level the game at 2-2 . After a halftime talk (hairdryer) I pointed out that we were better than our first half performance , and to be fair to the boys , they responded with our best 45 minutes display of the season so far. We brought on Shaun Dowling up front and Brodie Fernandes in the middle of the park and what an impact they had. The third goal came from Harry Collins winning the ball in midfield, he then fed it out to Luke Sellens on the left wing, who crossed it low to Shaun Dowling, who met it perfectly , 3-2 . Shaun then finished the game off with a fantastic run through the middle of the park and poked the ball over their keeper to make it 4-2 . We need to start games better than we have and get going quicker, but overall a great second half with good tempo and some really good displays.
