Under 15's vs Hartley De Sales FC

Match Date: 04 November 2018
Score: 5-2

The winter chill arrived at Chart Sutton today as our in-form Bearsted side took on an equally-impressive Hartley De Sales team.

Unfortunately for the opposition, today was the first time this season where I had all 16 of my talented players available, which meant that there were always 11 pairs of fresh legs on the pitch.

Within 3 minutes of the kick off, we created our second clear chance on goal. Lightning-fast striker Jolyon Lee beat two players down the right flank and thundered a shot onto the crossbar, before Daz Tzanakikis shielded the rebound back to the on-rushing Daniel Lawrence, who half-volleyed into the top corner. (1-0)

The Bears were completely in control of the game, with everyone winning their individual battles, although early warning signs were that we weren't using the ball well - several solo dribbles to nothing and passes going astray.

Hartley levelled when sloppy passing provided them a gift. (1-1)
We continued to create AND squander chance after chance in the first half and turned in for half-time extremely frustrated.

The team-talk was obvious - keep it simple! Pass simply, one-twos rather than hopeful Hollywood balls and cut out the risky flicks.

Safe to say that the lads responded!
Dominant but careless in the first half became focussed and clinical in the second.

Presley Vidler-Hilden drilled in a low effort after clever footwork, Jolyon Lee curled into the very top corner after a one-two and Presley struck twice more - bending the ball around their keeper and then rounding him for a well-deserved tap-in. (5-1)

Late on, the visitors benefitted from an unlucky own goal making the score 5-2.
However even their manager admitted that the winning margin could've been far greater after the second half showing from Bearsted.

Roll on next week!
