Under 18's KYL vs Crockenhill FC

Match Date: 30 September 2018
Score: 5-4

Beartsed travelled to Crockenhill FC for the first round of the Kent Cup.

The pitch was in poor condition, which meant the boys had to quickly adapt. The game kicked off and BFC were controlling the game but then unfortunately with no official lines man Crockenhill scored on the break from an off side position. This was against the run of play but BFC should have converted some good chances they had created.

Josh Ladlow played as a 10 today and controlled the game very well and eventually got his rewards with a well taken goal calmly slotted past the keeper to restore some faith and bring the game level 1-1. Crockenhill never gave up and were a very strong physical team, that mixed together with a catalogue of errors from BFC, poor defending and lack of discipline they managed to put the ball in the back of BFC’s net 3 times to take the half time score to 4-1. This was a complete shock to the boys who had a stern talking to at half time and a serious reality check.

The second half kicked off and straight away the mind set was 100% better and early on after some great link up play Josh Ladlow once again with his left foot found the bottom corner to make it 2-4 BFC. This early goals was what was needed to set the pace of the game moving forward. BFC now pressed high and were awarded a free kick some 22 yards out and Charlie Allen stepped up and smashed it into the net to make it 3-4 BFC. Now you could hear and see the difference and the belief from the lads. Once again another free kick on the edge of the box and Charlie Allen stepped forward and instead of smashing it he calmly passed it side ways to Jacob Gilbert who from outside the box beautifully slotted it past the keeper to make it 4-4 BFC. What a come back this was turning out to be, Crockenhill still pressed at every opportunity and Kit Warner (BFC Keeper) pulled some good important saves off to keep BFC well in the game.

It looked like it might go to extra time but with 2 mins left Fraser Daniels the big centre back came up for an in swinging free kick to poke it in at the far post and clinch the winner 5-4 BFC the boys went crazy and so they should after a great second half performance and a professional attitude to change their play compared to the poor effort in the 1st half.

Fantastic attitude and well done lads!!!!

Man of the Match: Josh Ladlow.
