Bearsted were the team to rue this result as certainly during the first half they were to be the team that was to create enough chances to ultimately win this game. However it was their opponents who were to have the brighter start with the runs of Adrian Stone and link up play with Dan Powell causing particular concern. As the half wore on though, so play gradually swung in favour of the home side with the wing runs of James Bessey-Saldanha and Lucian Scarlat being able to provide real chances which required some stout defending by their visitors with Jahmahl King’s efforts being at the heart of the action. Interestingly enough though in was front man Reece Collins who was to go closest when after chasing down a ball from deep, he was forced wide before sending his shot into the side netting and very soon after Crowborough had to thank their goalkeeper Ryan Burbridge for being able to turn over a rasping Sam Flisher shot from the edge of the area. As half time loomed though, as a result of a cross-field cross ball by Harvey Killick, Powell found room on the other flank to send the ball onto the bar leaving a message that this game was certainly still well in the balance.

Following the break for a while the momentum remained the same with the prospect of the all important opener for the hosts looking more likely and they thought they had achieved this when Rob Lyall got the ball into the net only for his effort to be ruled out for offside. However after this so they were to fall victim of their frustrations as time after time, they were to be guilty of making either the wrong attacking decisions or losing possession and as a result of misplaced passes allowed their opponents to grow in confidence, so much so that on numerous a occasions their more direct counter-play looked to be effective, an example of which being, when Oliver Welbourne was to go close and it was only due to a combination of great defending, together with a super save by Scott Andrews at the feet of Anthony Gonella that they could well have won the game. However very soon after, at the other end this nearly happened, when following a block from a Collins shot, the ball fell to Saldanha to send his effort high over the bar and for the stalemate to remain up until the final whistle.
