First Team vs Chatham Town

Match Date: 09 March 2019
Score: 0-3

The experienced Chatham Town striker Matt Bodkin took full advantage of the space he found himself in after only 20 seconds from the start and fired home an unstoppable 25 yard strike into the top right hand corner of the visitor’s goal. 1 - 0 I don’t know if this broke any kind of record ?
This gave title-hopefuls Chats a dream start, although the visitors did for the first 25 mins match the home side, albeit a Chatham corner did produce a header onto the cross bar and out of play.
The advantage was to swing with the home side when on 25 mins Bears' skipper Rob Lyall was
Sent off. The Bears then found themselves further behind when on 33 mins Harrison Carnegie fired in yet another unstoppable shot from distance, this time into the top left corner

The second half got underway and full credit to the Bears for giving it their all, a special mention here for Ryan Croucher who was moved to centre back ,out of position for him, but he put in a sterling performance before being forced of injured on 76 mins.
The Bears though for all their effort found chances hard to come by and were reduced to a few half chances.
The last 10 mins saw the home side piling on the pressure and Bears' goal keeper Scott Andrews and his defenders did well to keep the score down
The Chats increased their lead to 3 - 0 when on 90 min John Fitzgerald shot through a crowded penalty area from 18 yards beating an un-sighted Andrews.
A fair result on the day.
