By Allan Hefferon

On the back of 2 successful cup games recently Bearsted proved to be more
than a match for high flying opponents Beckenham. Indeed as the game
progressed so the home side with the advantage of a strong wind behind them
were to go close on several occasions, notably after a sequence of corner kicks
during this period. However as the half progressed so the visitors began to get
more into the game with the wing raids of Stephan Cox being of particular
significance. So much so that following some neat interplay was able to set up
Ashley Carew to send in a low shot onto the post to before being cleared to
safety and very soon after they once more came close when a ball into the box
was deflected onto the bar by a stout interception by Lekan Majoyegbe,
However as half time loomed so the host side should have gone in front when
John Rogers burst through before forcing point plank save by away keeper
Michael McEntegart and seeing the rebound being cleared off of the line and
away and to safety.
Following the half time break so play was to be end to end with both sides still
looking to make a breakthrough which eventually after 54 minutes when Sam
Flisher was adjudged to have brought down Cox and for the resultant penalty
kick being sent firmly into the net by Luke Rooney. With their tails still up so
the visitors who were to briefly able enjoy more possession able to push on in
search of extended their lead. However with the Bears were able to maintain
their commitment and after 64 minutes following a handball inside the area
James .Bessey-Saldanha was able to send to penalty kick past McEntegart to
equalise and set up an interesting finale. Buoyed by this goal so Bearsted
were now encouraged to move on the offensive and being able to provide the
visitors much to think about. However they were to be rewarded after 86
minutes when Davide Baranowski, was able to dribble into the area to
eventually able force the home the ball home following some desperate
goaline defending .The final minutes of the game and with their opponents
now having to commit forward so the score was nearly increased when
Nodirbek Bobomurodov and D.Baranowski
