First Team vs Fisher FC

Match Date: 22 February 2020
Score: 1-4

Without wanting to take away the shine off the home side’s victory, this final
scoreline really is not a fair reflection of a game that for various reasons
became a somewhat farcical set of circumstances, notably inflicted by heavy
wind conditions and a series of less than convincing officialdom. From the start
it was the visitors who were to go close early on when Leckan Majoyegbe sent
the ball onto the bar after getting onto the end of end of a Lucian Scarlat left
wing corner. However at the other end it was Fisher that were to take the after
12 minutes when a following a wing run down the left by Eilas Armah Tackie
ended with him providing the cross into the middle for Louie Clarke to score
from close range. As the game progressed so play flowed from end to end with
both sides whilst trying to cope with the conditions both went close to scoring.
H Following half time break so things remained a tight affair but after 60
minutes the lead was extended when a misjudged back- header was caught
in the wind which resulted in Clarke seizing the opportunity to put the ball
past stranded goalkeeper Scott Andrews. With Bearsted now having to
provide an early response so they were to be further punished after 71
minutes when a defensive clearance to the left was presumed to be out-of-
play, the ball though was allowed to be sent forward and for Clarke to
exploit the woeful lineman’s decision in keeping his flag down and for him
to add his 3 rd of the afternoon. However, 5 minutes later the visitors were to
have some hope when a deep corner from the left found the head of
Majoyegbe to send the ball into the net. Any such hope though was to
disappear in the 80 th minute when once more, it was adjudged that that
Bearsted to be reduced to 10 men and for the resultant corner from the
right was cleared to the edge of the area and for Armah Tackie to wrap up
the game.
