As it turned out this result came as slightly unexpected considering the recent
results of the home side’s opposition and with both teams playing with a
complimentary style. Indeed during much of the opening period West
Wickham were looking a real threat with the link up play of Josh Kennedy and
Josh Tutt, as well as the industry of Jack Doyler several opportunities were to
come their way, one of which seeing an effort from Kennedy hitting the
crossbar from some distance, However it was Bearsted who were to go in
front after 25 minutes when a left wing corner by Davide Baronowski found
the foot of Ryan Croucher to steer the ball into the top corner of the net.
Things were to get even better for the hosts when following some
combination play from Baronowski and Nodirbek .Bobomurodov the ball was
sent over to Jame-Bessey-Saldanha on the left, to run on and send the ball
across goalkeeper John Chisholm to extend the lead. This proved to be a
turning point of the game and as half came Bearsted, although looking
comfortable still had to be mindful of an early response in the second half.
All fears though were to be somewhat relieved when 4 minutes after the
resumption; john Rogers picked the ball upon the edge of the area to run
through a ruck of defenders to fire past Chisholm. Although this strike did put
the Bears in a somewhat commanding position and able to go close on
several occasions, Wickham did very well in trying to mount their attacks and
for a while still posed a potential threat. However very close to the end they
were to suffer another blow when after losing a player through injury Josh
Ladlaw was set up by Lucian Scarlat, to send the ball from a tight angle to
send the ball high into the far corner. In conclusion although this game was
played on a somewhat dreary afternoon the crowd could not be disappointed
at seeing both teams offering good football played in the right spirit of the
