Perhaps this final score does is not quite a fair reflection of how tight this match really was? Certainly the early stages saw Bearsted much more on the offensive during which time seeing Lecken Majoyegbe heading a left wing corner onto the bar. However they were to fall behind after 20 minutes when, following the breakdown of another corner kick the ball was sent up field to Dan Bradshaw to run on and make himself enough room to send his shot across Scott Andrews into the net. Following this strike so Sheppey grew more into the game utilising their swift wing play and creating several potential chances, notably when Harry Lang hooked a goal bound volley and forcing a great save from Andrews. The game though did still flow end to end and the visitors were unlucky not to pull back a goal back when a Peter Williams effort was headed off of the line. However the lead was to be further extended on 46 minutes, when as a result of catastrophic defensive mix-up Bradshaw was allowed to add his second of the afternoon.

Following the half time break so both sides now had different missions and it was the home side who might have achieved theirs on a few occasions, notably when a Billy Bennett saw his goal effort hitting both posts before the ball being sent to safety. Perhaps the visitors were spurred on somewhat by this as they began to be able to enjoy more of the play and a mounting a series attacks and create a certain amount of concern for the home defence and on several occasions should have scored when Scarlat, Williams and Garner all went close to saving the game. However all this time they still remained susceptible to be to being caught on the break, so much so that in the 93rd minute, once more it was Bradshaw who was to now put the result put beyond all doubt
