First Team vs Sheppey Utd

Match Date: 06 October 2020
Score: 2-5

Once again the Bears were facing another of the red - hot title favourites in Sheppey United the game started slowly, with neither side taking control and both sides guilty of giving the ball away.
Although Sheppey did create a couple of half chances and did manage to take the lead on 28 minutes when Leonard attacked down the right, got into the box and fired home across Jamie Gillen in the Bears' goal 0 - 1. Before the Bears' could regroup Sheppey scored a second when Mfula scored a very similar goal on 29 mins 0 - 2.
Sheppey now stepped up a gear and started to take control. It looked bad for the home side, when on 38 mins the referee awarded Sheppey a penalty. Mfula was denied a second goal when the impressive, Jamie Gillen flew to his left to save the spot kick .Half time 0 - 2
The second half saw the Bears' start brightly and as early as the 47 min saw Jon Rogers firing narrowly wide. With the home side gaining more possession and growing in confidence, questions were being asked of the visitors, and after 10 mins of good pressure got them their reward when Lucian Scarlett fired home from 8 yards 55 min 1 - 2.
The Bears' were now very much on the front foot, but were to fall behind to another Sheppey goal. A Sheppey free kick was played into the Bears' box where a cluster of heads went up to head the ball, sadly it went in the goal off a defender e.g. 1 - 3.58 mins.
Undeterred the home side pressed on .pushing forward, with the game becoming more stretched,
the Bears' looked capable of scoring again, and they did on 69 mins after a great 18 yard shot from Tom Penfold was carried out by Sheppey keeper Molloy straight to Andy Irvine who fired home from 3 yards. 2 - 3
This created a nervy period for the visitors, but with the Bears; pushing up for the equaliser Sheppey managed to score two late goals Aikhionbade 86 mins and Leonard 89 mins.
