First Team vs AFC Croydon

Match Date: 10 October 2020
Score: 1-2

This game didn't compare to recent Bears' performances, on a difficult surface, both sides struggled to impose themselves and take control, making it a much stretched game throughout.
The Bears first real chance fell to Elyon Marshall-Katung who on 10 mins dragged his shot wide from 10 yards.
On 14 mins the Bears' won 2 consecutive corners, the second of which was narrowly headed over by Lekan Mayjoyegbe.
The home side were at every opportunity getting the ball forward with pace, particularly down their left wing, the Bears though coped with the threat.
AS the game wore on the Bears were to create some very good chances with Elyon Marshall-Katung 40 mins and Jordan Ababio drawing top class saves from the home keeper, it was during this period that another Bears effort hit the woodwork.
HT 0 - 0.
The second period started with the Rams launching the ball forward, and on one of these attacks looked quite threatening, but it came to nothing.
The Bears though did start looking a bit more comfortable, creating some half chances.
On one of these attacks the Bears won a corner on the right, David Baranowski sent in a great delivery which was firmly headed home by Asedina Luqham to give the Bears a 1 - 0 lead. 55 mins.
The Bears' suggested they were beginning to take control. Sadly it wasn't to last, on 65 mins Croydon won a right wing corner ,which was headed home by Billy Murphy to bring the home side level 1 - 1.
On 68 mins and with the Bears' pressing on Tom Penfold sent in a great 22 yard drive which hit the bar and out to safety. Half chances were coming both ends and Bearsted again hit the woodwork.
The next goal was to be the all-important one and it was scored by the Rams, on 70 mins a long right wing throw in was helped across the Bears' penalty area where Abbas Oducu was on hand to head home what was to be the eventual winner. 2 - 1.
The Bears' threw everything forward producing a string of fine saves from Marcus Belloli in the home goal, saving from Abobio, twice And M.Katung. Ababio had yet another chance but his effort was again thwarted by the woodwork
Not a classic, but when you have hit the woodwork 5 times and the very impressive Belloli pulling of half a dozen top class saves, you're left scratching your head .Although it must be said, that elusive clean sheet can't come quick enough. We did deserve something on the day.
