First Team vs Crowborough Athletic

Match Date: 20 October 2020
Score: 1-0

This game never produced the high quality, drama and goals, we have seen so far this season.
What it did show was a Bearsted side determined not to give anything away by way of early goals and chances, this they achieved.
Whilst never a classic, the Bears secured their first clean sheet of the season against a feisty Crows side. On the night both sides struggled to create too much going forward, but the Bears' were looking comfortable, although nothing to report on goal attempts. The Bears' probably thought this would change in the second half when on 44 mins Rory Salter (Crowborough) was dismissed for a second yellow card .Reducing the Crows to 10 men.
HT 0 - 0.
As is so often the case with ten men, the Crows started off the second period with something to prove, but for all their efforts they didn't actually create much and the Bears' stood firm.
As the half wore on some suggested the game had 0 - 0 written all over it.
Jordan Ababio had other ideas, on 75 mins the Bears won a free kick 30 yards from goal Ababio took it, passing it to David Baranowski who played it back into the path of Ababio who from 22 yards rifled in a left foot drive which took a deflection and went in to the net from the underside of the cross bar.. 1 - 0.
The game was played out with the Bears' in control, and but for a great save by the Crows keeper to deny a David Baranowski shot it could have been 2- 0 .FT 1 - 0.

Not a classic but a great 3 points and that important clean sheet.
