About Bearsted FC

Bearsted FC was founded in 1895 and is one of the oldest clubs in Kent. Originally playing on Bearsted Green the club moved to Honey Lane, Otham in 1998 to enable the club to compete in the premier division of the Kent County League.

Bearsted where runners up to Snodland in 1999/2000 season and champions in the 2000/01 and 2001/02 seasons under manager Ian Hamer, but promotion was not possible due to ground grading requirements.

The club were early supporters of the Kent Youth League and were champions at under 14 level in 1998/99 and 1999/00 season. Also champions at under 16's in 1998/99 season as well as under 18's in 2000/01, 2001/02 and 2003/04 season.

Since reaching the finals of the Kent Senior trophy in the 2006/07 season, where Bearsted were narrowly defeated by Whitstable town 1.0, the First team had a run of lean years, during which the club ceased to run a senior team on Sundays.

In 2011 the club were invited to join the newly formed step 6 Kent Invicta league for the start of the 2011/12 season.

This decision provided the momentum to create a programme of ground improvements for progression to play at Kent League stats for the first time in the clubs history.

Following the appointment of Kevin Stevens as first team manager, progress was made on the pitch and the team were runners up in both the league and league cup for the 2014/15 season.

The club completed the necessary ground improvements during the 2015/16 season, including the introduction of floodlights, a new stand and hard standing and the team responded by winning the Kent Invicta leagues in an exciting season, to win promotion to the Southern Counties East Football league Premier division.

The club also look forward to competing in the FA Vase for the first time and hopefully the FA cup during the 2017/18 season.

It was dis-appointing that the club could not secure enough support or investment to maintain a Saturday reserves side for the 2016/17 season, but the club decided to appoint Colin Whitfield as Chairman of the clubs youth development to provide a greater focus and resource into developing and retaining our home grown talent for the future.

The club now starts an exciting new era of football with an improving ground at Honey Lane and a new 20 year lease providing security of tenure.
