Over the weekend of 3rd and 4th June the Club held its' annual soccer tournament at our impressive venue in Otham. This event was supported by many junior and youth teams from throughout the county, which turned out to be an enormous success enjoyed by both visitors and indeed ourselves. On offer for all of the teams was the opportunity to play on both our main pitch as well as the ancillary ones adjacent to this. Between games, players and visitors were able to take part in our penalty shoot-out challenges, take a chance on the Tombola bottle stall or visit next to it, our stand providing a multi-selection of homemade cakes and sweets, as well as a traditional ice cream van very close by. However most importantly our main building provided the facility for referee’s changing, the tournament adjudication point and toilet facilities. Perhaps though our cafe, under the excellent supervision and cooking of Lesley and Kevin Stevens provided a great stop off point for those in need of freshly cooked food, teas, coffes, soft drink and a welcome opportunity to take a well earned break.

Outside back at the tournament, matches were won and lost, some tears were shed, cups were won, presentations were made, but at the end of the day everybody shook hands in respect of the spirit of the game.

In conclusion, the club has to say a special thank you to all our members who played their part in organising this event and for working so tirelessly prior to and over a very long weekend. The outcome of which giving our club not only a financial boost, but some kind acknowledgements from our guests and the referees, who also played their part in making it a great weekend. Thank to you all and we look forward to seeing you again next year.
